The Tripura Students Federation (TSF) was formed in 1946 by a group of students with the objective of working for the welfare and progress of the student community in Tripura, a state in northeastern India. The TSF played a crucial role in the state's politics, especially during the 1960s and 1970s, when Tripura witnessed a series of political upheavals.

In 1965, the TSF launched a movement demanding the recognition of Kokborok, a tribal language spoken by a significant population in Tripura, as an official language of the state. The movement gained momentum and resulted in the inclusion of Kokborok as an official language in the state's constitution.

In 1972, the TSF played a key role in the formation of the Twipra State Council (TSC), an autonomous body representing the interests of the tribal communities in Tripura. The TSC was later renamed as the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and given greater powers and responsibilities.

In 1976, the TSF organized a massive rally in the state capital, Agartala, demanding the establishment of a full-fledged university in Tripura. The government eventually acceded to the demand, and Tripura University was established in 1987.

Over the years, the TSF has continued to work for the betterment of the student community in Tripura. It has been involved in numerous initiatives, such as setting up libraries, organizing career guidance workshops, and advocating for better infrastructure in educational institutions.

To commemorate its contribution to the state's student community, the TSF celebrates its foundation day on May 13 every year. The day is marked by various cultural programs, seminars, and other events aimed at highlighting the achievements of the TSF and its members. The celebration of TSF Day is an occasion for students and alumni to come together and reaffirm their commitment to the organization's ideals and goals.
